PLD

Te Aka Toitū aims to provide extensive Professional Learning Development (PLD) for all staff involved in the initiative. It is critical that teachers have the skills and knowledge using our chosen digital platforms so that technology can be used to enhance student learning. 

All PLD for staff will be aligned with our Pedagogical Framework below:

  • Teachers need to be able to ensure that the learning opportunities for their students are future-focused and able to be accessed anytime, anywhere and at any pace. 
Learn, Create, Share
  • Teachers will adopt the model of Learn, Create, Share. This applies to both the professional development of staff as well as the learning opportunities for students.

E-learning and pedagogy

Information and communication technology (ICT) has a major impact on the world in which young people live. Similarly, e-learning (that is, learning supported by or facilitated by ICT) has considerable potential to support the teaching approaches outlined in the New Zealand Curriculum.

By providing students access to a digital learning environment and future-focused pedagogy, Te Aka Toitū promotes all of the key competencies within the New Zealand Curriculum. These competencies are crucial if our students want to live, learn, work, and contribute as active members of their community.
